Grand Hotel Eastbourne Wedding
I was fortunate enough to photograph Jen & Dom’s Grand Hotel Eastbourne wedding on the 22nd of November, 2014, which was truly a grand affair.
The Grand Hotel Eastbourne, otherwise known as the ‘The White Palace’ or the ‘White Wedding Cake’ was the sublime location for their special occasion. Photographing in this majestic hotel is always a joy. The attention to details, such as the flower arrangements and table decoration, were perfect for shots using a shallow depth of field.
The available light that flooded into the Princess Room, where the ceremony took place, allowed me to leave my speedlite off for a beautiful natural look.
The splendid architecture in the Compton Room, where the Wedding Breakfast was held, made for some great, quirky shots. Particularly from the balcony which provided an excellent vantage point for some fly-on-the-wall angles.
At all weddings, in order to capture the day, I like to explore every angle of the venue to create that unique shot. I love it at the Grand, there are so many options for photographers to bring out the best in the happy couple alongside their friends and family.
However, my favourite images of the 150-year-old Victorian building, which really helped to record the atmosphere for the bride and groom, were the outside evening pictures. The seafront decoration and the outside lights depicted the hotel at its romantic best – what better setting to start married life together?
Congratulations to the couple and also to the Grand Hotel Eastbourne wedding team! It’s easy to see why they won the national wedding venue accolade in the 2014 at the Wedding Dates awards.
