St Paul's Cathedral wedding in London

Stunning Saint Paul’s Cathedral wedding

I felt privileged as a Sussex based wedding photographer to capture Maggie and Alex’s special day in the city. To be able to use my wedding photography skills at one of the most iconic places in London, at St Paul’s Cathedral was an absolute joy.

The bride and groom, Maggie and Alex were referred to me via a friend and they took up my wedding photography offer at the time. They booked me after reviewing my work and talking to me on the phone.

As we had a strict timetable, I had to work with speed and creativity. I asked the groom’s party to arrive early. This way we could take some fun shots while the cathedral was reasonably quiet. The bride and bridal party arrived at the North Tempest wearing a beautiful bridal dress with stunning red designer shoes. It is a tradition in the family and every bride wears red shoes on their wedding day.

Service

At St Paul’s the photographer is limited on where they may stand during the wedding service. I was able to photograph the bride and his father walking down the aisle. The bride and groom during the first hymn, signing the registry and walking out the chapel. I used multiple lenses to give a verified perspective for the newly weds. When you are married at the OBE Chapel, you are entitled to access the main Cathedral to take pictures before and after the service. I could not have asked for a more perfect backdrop for that first kiss.

Prior to the special day I visited the cathedral a few times to ensure I knew the light conditions of the venue and the best angles to capture their wedding day. I also soon realised that certain areas of the St Paul’s were quieter than others and I was able to continue shooting outside after the ceremony. I just adore the faces of the two page boys throwing their bowler hats high into the air. What a joy for them and it certainly provided a few laughs for the wedding party.

Bride and Groom shots

The Cathedral’s garden supplied an awesome backdrop for the newlyweds photos. However we wanted to capture the dome of the Cathedral. Hence we hopped over to the One New Change shopping centre’s roof terrace for those one and only images with St Paul’s in the background.

Testimonial

It was a truly memorable wedding and the bride and groom were delighted with the results. “Fantastic pics Ria…. we are absolutely delighted…..a wedding at St. Paul’s cathedral is special enough, but to have such wonderful pics as a memory tops it all off… xxxxxxxxxx”
